Prof. Dr.-Ing. Albert Göttle
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Albert Göttle is the President of the Bavarian Environment Agency since 2 005. In 1978 he joined the Bavarian Water Management administration where he became the Head of State Office for Water Management in Kempten from 1987 to 1992. After holding different positions in the administration, including Head of section for river training and river restoration and Head of section for torrents and water ecology he also became the Head of department for Water Management in the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection from 2004 to 2005
Mr M Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Govt of India
Mr. Ramachandran is a graduate in economics with a special interest in the area of project planning. After joining the Indian Administrative Service in 1972, he held various positions in the state of Uttar Pradesh, where he took new initiatives in structuring the University system and administration. He also started a Jan Chetna programme to reach out directly to all villages and local representatives. After specializing in project formulation and monitoring with the UNDP and working with the Ministry of Shipping of the Government of India, he was recalled to the State of Uttaranchal by the Government in 2003, where he held senior positions including those of Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary. Notable during his tenure as Infrastructure Development Commissioner in the state was his initiative in starting new projects, covering Public-Private Partnerships, lining up $ 1 billion ADB assistance for the power, road and urban sectors and $120 million World Bank assistance for the drinking water sector. He took over as Secretary of the Urban Development Ministry on 1 November 2006.
